Screw-it!

Privacy Policy

Effective date: November 2, 2026

The short version

Screw-it! works without an account and keeps what you describe on your phone. We collect only anonymous usage counts and crash reports, never sell your information, and never use it for advertising.

  • No account. We never ask for your name, email or phone number.

  • Your problem stays with you. What you type and the photos you add stay on your phone.

  • Location is used, not kept. It finds pros near you, your local weather and the right emergency number.

  • Anonymous statistics. We count how the app is used and when it crashes, without knowing who you are.

  • No ads, no tracking, no selling.

  • Built responsibly. The repair guides were shaped by statistics from real repair requests, and no personal information from those requests is in the app (see How the app was built)

Who we are

Screw-it! is made by AppWork Technologies Inc. (“AppWork”, “we”, “us”), 581 North Franklin Turnpike, Ramsey, NJ 07446, USA. This policy covers the Screw-it! app for iPhone. AppWork’s company privacy policy covers AppWork’s other products and website.

Questions about your privacy: email support@appworkco.com or call +1 201-241-3793. To make a privacy rights request, use our Privacy Rights Request form.

What we collect

We collect four kinds of information, none of it linked to your identity: approximate location, a random app ID, how the app is used, and crash reports. Everything else stays on your phone.

Information collected by Screw-it!
InformationCollected by us?What happens to it
Your problem description and photosNoStay on your phone. Shared only if you choose to copy them into a message to a technician.
Your precise locationNoUsed on your phone and sent to Apple Maps and Apple Weather to answer that one request. Not stored.
Approximate location (city, country)YesWorked out by Google Firebase from your internet connection, for usage statistics.
A random app IDYesCreated by Firebase when the app is installed. Not linked to your name, email or phone.
How the app is usedYesWhich kind of problem was reported, whether a fix worked, which type of pro was searched, emergency button taps. Never the words you type.
Crash reportsYesTechnical details when the app crashes, so we can fix it.
Your name, email, phone number, contactsNoWe never ask for them.
Your language settingNoSaved only on your phone.

Your location

Screw-it! uses your location only while you use the app, and only for three things. It never stores it and never tracks you in the background.

Finding pros near you. Your location is sent to Apple Maps to search for technicians nearby. You can type a ZIP code or city instead.

Local weather. If you’ve already allowed location, the app asks Apple Weather for the current temperature and severe-weather alerts, so it can warn you about frozen pipes or a heat wave.

The right emergency number. The emergency button calls the local number for the country you’re in, such as 911 in the US.

You can turn location off at any time in iPhone Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Screw-it!. The app still works; you’ll be asked for a ZIP code when searching for pros.

Usage statistics and crash reports

We use Google Firebase (Google Analytics for Firebase and Crashlytics) to count how many people use Screw-it! and to fix crashes. We see totals and trends, not individuals.

  • What Firebase receives: the random app ID, approximate location, device type and iOS version, app version, the app events listed above, and crash details.
  • What it never receives: your problem description, photos, precise location, or the names of technicians you look at.
  • No advertising use: we don’t collect your device’s advertising identifier, ad personalization is turned off, and the app never asks for permission to track you.
  • Retention: Firebase keeps detailed usage data for 14 months and crash reports for 90 days, then deletes them.

Google processes this data as our service provider. See Google’s Firebase privacy information.

Services the app uses

Three outside services help the app work. None of them receives your name or what you typed.

Outside services used by Screw-it!
ServiceWhat it doesWhat it receives
Apple MapsFinds technicians near youYour location or the ZIP code you typed, and the type of pro
Apple WeatherLocal temperature and alertsYour location
Google FirebaseUsage statistics and crash reportsSee Usage statistics above

Technicians are independent businesses. They come from Apple Maps and are not employed by or affiliated with AppWork. When you call, text or email one, you share your details directly with them, under their own privacy practices. The app sends them nothing on its own.

How the app was built: AppWork repair data

The repair guides in Screw-it! are based on statistics from real repair requests handled through AppWork’s platform for property management companies. No personal information was used to build the guides, and none is in the app.

What we used

100,000 repair requests from October 2024 to September 2026: the description of the problem, the technician’s notes on how it was resolved, the repair category, the month, and the state and city.

What we did not use

Residents’ names, email addresses, phone numbers, unit numbers or street addresses. These fields were left out of the data entirely. Nothing about Screw-it! users was used either.

How it was used

AppWork’s R&D team, with AI tools run under AppWork’s business accounts, sorted the requests by type of problem and recorded whether a simple fix solved them. Only totals and rates came out of this review, for example “48% of 1,722 recent requests like this needed only a simple fix”.

What’s in the app

Repair steps and tips written by our team, plus those totals and rates. No sentence from any request or technician note is copied into the app, and no customer, property, resident or address is named. Before every release, an automated check blocks names, contact details, unit numbers, street addresses and copied sentences.

Where the original data stays

Inside AppWork, used only by our R&D team and under our agreements with our customers. It is never shared with Screw-it! users, sold, or used to contact anyone.

The free-text descriptions in the original requests can occasionally mention personal details. Those details were never extracted, analyzed, copied into the app or included in its statistics.

What we never do

  • We don’t sell or rent your information, and we don’t “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • We don’t show ads or use your information for advertising.
  • We don’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
  • We don’t build a profile of you or link app data to your identity.

Your choices and rights

Because Screw-it! doesn’t know who you are, most of your data is already anonymous. You still have these choices:

  • Turn off location in iPhone Settings at any time.
  • Reset your app ID by deleting and reinstalling the app. The old usage data can no longer be connected to you.
  • Ask us to access or delete information, or ask any privacy question, through our Privacy Rights Request form or at support@appworkco.com. Depending on where you live, including California and other US states, you may have rights to know, access, correct or delete personal information, and we won’t treat you differently for using them.

Children

Screw-it! is not directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Security

Data sent from the app to our service providers is encrypted in transit. Access to usage statistics is limited to AppWork staff who need it to improve the app.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll update the effective date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app before they apply.
