AppWorks offline mode helps when internet lacks

How AppWork's offline mode helps property Managers overcome lack of internet connectivity

Power outages caused by violent weather throw a huge wrench in any apartment community maintenance services.

Kings Cove Apartments managed by Asset Living near Houston recently experienced Hurricane Beryl, leaving the onsite team, residents, and staff members without power for 10 days and internet or wifi for one additional week. Many residents temporarily left their storm-damaged apartment homes and waited for the green light to return – often, this signal comes once they learn their apartment has been remedied from water and wind damage.

Fortunately, during Beryl, the Asset Living team at Kings Cove managed its work orders through AppWork, which functioned without Wi-Fi. This allowed community manager Ashley Luna to close out jobs, giving residents the relief that they could come home.

“When Hurricane Beryl hit, we lost power for 10 days,” Luna said. “We had no staff working the main office. Because our community is close to the water, and there are no cell towers – we have a bad Wi-Fi connection, anyway – even during good conditions. So, in this situation, residents couldn’t even call into our system during the storm.”

Fortunately, she was able to use AppWork without internet.

“Some of our residents who left because of the conditions weren’t sure when they could move back in, but once they saw that their work orders had been completed, they knew they could return,” Luna said.

Timeliness and organization are never more crucial than during weather catastrophes.
