🎉 Kick off 2025 with a (literal) game-changing AppWork update packed with enhanced functionality, improved usability, and exciting new ways to keep your maintenance team motivated! Read on to learn about our biggest release EVER! Let’s dive into the details: 🎉


1. Work Order Page Redesign

Our new design keeps it clean but doubles the information at a glance – no extra clicks required!

  • Work order descriptions are now visible and expand fully on hover.
  • Icons indicate the status of work orders:
    • Parts Needed: Hover over to see the parts you need.
    • No Access: Hover over to see why.
  • New work order filter:
    • Use the new "Is Callback" checkbox under "More Filters" to see the open work orders that have been called back.

2. Work Order Scheduling – The Basics Are Here!

You can now schedule work orders for a specific date, making planning easier than ever.

How to schedule:

  1. Click on a work order to view it.
  2. Click the Schedule button on from the actions menu.
  3. Select the date you want to schedule the work order for.

You can also schedule work orders upon creation from the creation modal

  • The resident will receive an automatic email when their work order is scheduled so they know when to expect a resolution!
  • At a glance: Scheduled dates are now visible on the index page.

    • Green: Due today
    • Red: Past due
  • Sorting made simple: Quickly spot overdue or upcoming work orders by sorting the date column.

3. Prioritize Technician Work Orders

Want technicians to complete work orders in a specific order? Now you can!

  1. On the technicians overview page, click the assigned box next to a technician.
  2. Drag and drop work orders to set the order of completion.

This feature will be fully live soon when the technician app update is rolled out.


4. Drag & Drop Attachments

Adding images or files to work orders is now effortless – just drag and drop!

  • This can be done when creating work orders and when viewing work orders!
    Appworks new drag and drop functionality for work orders. Effortlessly add images or files to work orders by dragging and dropping, whether during creation or while viewing existing work orders.

5. AppWork Coins – Motivation Meets Fun!

Introducing AppWork Coins, a fun way to engage and motivate technicians!

How to earn coins:

  • Tasks completed: +20 coins each (work orders, make-readies, or inspections)
  • New badge earned: +50 coins
  • Active month: +10 coin
  • Reviews:
    • 5-star: +30 coins
    • 4-star: +20 coins
    • 2-star: -20 coin
    • 1-star: -30 coins
  • Callbacks: -50 coins

6. Smarter AI for Work Orders

Our improved AI model makes managing work orders even easier:

  • Recognizes over a dozen new categories for more accurate classification.
  • AI learns better when manual changes are made to categories.
  • New alerts for both admin and resident work orders ensure work orders are descriptive enough and only include one issue in each work order, improving accuracy.

7. Inspections Enhancements

  • Filter inspections by template for clearer progress tracking.
  • Subscribe to specific inspection templates for better updates.

8. Additional Updates & Fixes

  • Resend the technician welcome text with links to download the app.
  • Improved handling of inspection template versions—no more deactivating old templates after edits.
  • Fixed an issue where resident text responses weren’t appearing in the admin portal.
  • Implemented an entirely new backend system for PDF generation to improve the AppWork user experience.
    • Compressed PDFs file size to meet Yardi upload requirements.
  • Significant changes to integration handling.
  • Introduced groundwork for Entrata integration.
