Game-Changing Schrader Valve Tool
Now, let's say for example, you tried to remove the shrader valve and you, you can turn the tool and it just, it'll loosen, but it won't come out. It's broken basically inside. So while this is a very helpful tool, it doesn't solve or remove the valve a hundred percent of the time. So now this is a tool I came across a couple of years ago.
And to me, this is one of the smartest inventions I've ever seen in HVAC. This is called a shrader valve gripper tool. And I commend the person that invented this because whoever this person is saves me countless hours of working in the field. So the way this works is you find the shrader valve and you push the plunger in and you can see that it's spring loaded.
And I'll have a video of this in the field as well too. So what what happens is when you push this plunger in. Four split grabbers come out just like a tool that you would use if you dropped a nut or a screw or a bolt in underneath the engine compartment of your car. And you'll put this over the pin of the shrader valve, and then as you let the plunger out, it will align in the keyway.
So then what you do is you pull on the ring and you push this and you pull. And as you pull, there's no way. You're getting this Schrader valve out of there, so you have constant outward pressure. So you pull this. As you turn it and you will remove the shrader valve. And I have to tell you, out of all the shrader valves that have been broken, typically what I had to do in the past is pump down the condenser, pull all the refrigerant out of the system, pull a vacuum, put nitrogen in it.
Remove this, which was difficult. Sometimes you'd have to replace the entire valve and then go through the recharging process. So I believe this costs me around $35 plus shipping worth its weight and gold. So all you do is put this over the end, pull turn, and you could put a lot of pulling pressure on this force and this comes out.
And then what you do is you just put a new one of the shrader valves in so you can now. Screw the new one in. Remember, snug not incredibly tight, and within seconds or maybe a minute or two, you've replaced a broken leaky shrader valve. So between these tools, this handles. Almost all of them. When this doesn't work and it's broken inside, the Shrader valve gripper tool is a wonderful tool to add to your tool belt, and it has saved me countless hours in the field.
And of course, the expense of time and refrigerant. And then of course, what's even more important is the comfort of our customer.
