Do It Right: Safe Repairs Every Time
Now, what advice would I give as a technician? You've been at your role or you just joined the industry, or you've been at your role for a while, and that is to make repairs correctly. Too often I see technicians in the field and even supervisors in people in leadership positions. Encourage you to use used parts.
So I want to just say this, do not use used parts unless you have absolutely no choice. First, you could be liable for using used parts that could be the source of an ignition of a fire or some type of liability. So when you're replacing parts, use brand new parts match all of the specifications in the components, whatever the ratings and the readings are.
But you do not want to be the person that started a fire. That caused someone an injury or a loss of life or a crisis for trying to save a few dollars. Most parts are only engineered to last somewhere between five and 15 years. So if. Appliances or HVAC systems or aging on the property only use brand new used parts with all of the ratings and specs matched, and you will now produce a lot less.
Callbacks and you will not have to go back and do the same job twice. And there's a saying, and I really like this. If you think doing it right with the right tools and the right equipment costs a lot of money, wait until you try to do it with all the wrong tools and the wrong parts. That's really gonna cost you and it may cost someone their life.
So make sure you make all the repairs correctly. That's my advice as a technician.
