Words Matter: Stay Professional
Hello everyone. The next topic is the type of language that we use while we work in the field among all of our tenants and among all of our management team. My advice to you is this, sometimes when we communicate we have to be extremely careful. Certain people may see some, find certain language to be unacceptable or people may get offended.
So yes, as I've been mentioned in the past, that we always must act professionally. It's also the type of language that we use sometimes, for example, when sometimes maintenance work power of our way of doing our work. Sometimes we like to chat with our peers and everything, but we have to be careful that we don't say things that may be out of outta line.
And because it can happen and a tenant may hear you and they may find offensive to that using ger language an acceptable language, which by the way, on, based on your handbooks, we shouldn't be using that type of language. There's a time and a place of what type of communication you can have with certain people.
In business, in a professional setting, we need to act professional at all times. Just like I mentioned to you, when you look, when you present yourself, but also how you communicate. So when it comes to that, make sure that you use acceptable language, that you don't use offensive wording that can disrespect, make somebody feel disrespected and and simply diffuse potential challenges or situations where.
That can escalate. That is the key on what we do. Because you don't wanna give a bad impression. You need to act professionally. And let's imagine, remember, let's imagine ourselves on the other side. Let's imagine we have a relative. Let's imagine it's your mother, your father, your whoever, your daughter your kids, anyone from your family, would you like them to?
Kind of be exposed to that type of language. Wouldn't you find that to be acceptable or not? Those are the type of things that you need to think when you're doing your work. You're doing an understanding job, correct? You are a great worker, you're a maintenance, hardworking individual. But will it be fair also to say that yes, because for whatever reason you use a war, an unacceptable language.
People will judge you, has not been professional and minimizing the type of intelligence or the type of work that you do, simply because you made a comment that perhaps was still unacceptable. And that's not fair because then it can pro provide like a label of something that is unfair against you.
So remember when it comes to work. Make sure you act professional. Make sure that you use the proper language and try to use language that is plain, simple and respectful and never use anything that could be offensive for anybody. I hope that information helps you. I've been doing this for 25 years and I have had my situations where we experience certain things like this where we see, I have worked with my maintenance group team, I was a maintenance worker, and if I found the using this type of approach.
It has gotten me out of a lot of trouble and because we don't wanna put ourselves in that type of position. So remember, act professional and always use the proper language while you are in a work setting. Have a good one among your tenants or that are correct also with your management team and your group.
Remember, you're a team. There's no I in team, so keep the good work and do and make sure that you continue to do what you're doing.
