Before entering anyone's apartment, make sure you know what you are going in to look at when you receive a work order that is very vague, that says sink broken, light out, drain, clogged, clocked. Make sure you know which sink is broken, which light bulb is out. Which drain is clogged. You need to assume that when you enter anyone's apartment, you are being recorded.
There are tons of ways now for residents to have cameras, videos, whatnot in their apartments, recording anything and everything that goes on. Some of them are obvious, some of 'em not so much, but that's not really the point. You need to assume that you're being recorded. So when you get that work order that says sink broke, drain clogged, light out, find out exactly where the problem is so you don't spend time walking through the apartment going into unnecessary places.
We've all received that work order. We've all gotten that very vague request. Do yourself a favor. Call the resident, email the resident. Text the resident. Use your um, your applications, your software, your apps that you have on your phone to track your work orders, to contact the resident and ask, I received a request to look at your sink drain.
Could you please indicate which drain is leaking so I know where to go in your apartment? Doing that will save you a lot of headache going forward.
