Let's talk about some things that we should never say to residents. The first part is obvious. Never make a reference or talk to a resident about any particular fair housing issues. In other words, identifying any resident by, uh, their gender, their their sex. Their national origin, their race, their religion, all of these are automatically out of bounds.

It's best to say their name. Uh, you can even identify residents by their apartment number. The resident in apartment number 13 B, do not compare residents one to another. As a matter of fact. It's a good idea to not even compare, well, your air conditioner works better or worse than the air conditioner up on the 14th floor.

These are examples of things that it's a good idea to avoid when talking with residents. We do not want to give the impression that we are treating the resident in front of us any different than any other resident. I. We do want to provide, uh, truthful information to that resident in a clear manner.

Also, do not discuss money with a resident. A frequent saying I use is that I'm in maintenance. I don't discuss money. Let's go to the office with somebody who will be much more knowledgeable about that information. I. These are tips and things to stay away from when talking to residents.
