Replacing a Faucet Stem Cartridge
Say you get a work order for a kitchen faucet that is constantly running and you have the the hot side, say it's hot water, and you have the hot side turn completely off and it's still running. The problem is gonna be right here at your cartridge. So the way to replace that, you want to get rid of this little.
I'm gonna get rid of this little guy right here. Get this out of the way, this little retaining clip, and then we're gonna take off this brass. It's too big.
We're gonna take off this brass nut.
Twist that off. And then we should,
should be able to pull this right out. Now, this is a ceramic disc cartridge. These don't typically go bad that often, but sometimes you could get some debris stuck in here that could cause it from closing all the way. But typically what you would do if, if like this was damaged, you would get a new one that looks exactly like this, and then you would just put it right back in its place.
Now, one thing you need to keep in mind here is look at this. There are some grooves here in here. You need to make sure that you line those up with the cartridge. So here is one. And then there's one on the other side. So you just wanna make sure that when you go to put this back in, that you've got those lined up properly so that it will snap, I can place, and then you take your nut,
you would put that back on.
Tighten it down.
Put your little retaining clip back on.
Easier said than done, and there we go. And then handle,
screw. And tap. Once that's done, cut the water back on and make sure that you have, uh, no more running water.
