Preventative Maintenance: Appliances
When I am doing preventative maintenance or I'm PMing my appliances, I'm going to clean my refrigerator coils. When was the last time any of you cleaned a refrigerator? Coil? Don't lie. Don't lie. Clean your refrigerator coils to improve their efficiency. Vacant apartments run the self clean on the oven just to make sure that it's operational.
Dishwashers, inspect those. Make sure there's nothing clogged in the spray arms. Make sure your impellers are in good working order. Make sure the drain, make sure the loop on the drain hose is good so you don't have backfill, you don't have water that's just sitting down there becoming nasty and stagnant.
Inspect those things. This is a great time to clean dryer vents and to inspect dryer vents and to inspect the exterior of the building where the grates are, to make sure that you don't have birds or squirrels or critters burrowing into your apartments through broken. Lint traps or lint screens, it's a great time to get out there and clean dryer vents.
So for appliances, for appliance preventative maintenance, you're gonna clean your refrigerator coils. Check your ranges. Make sure the self-clean work function works. If you have one, check your dishwashers for draining. Make sure everything's clear. And then definitely inspect your dryer vents on your dryer.
This is a major cause for apartment fire. Clean those vents, clean those vents, and on. If the lint traps are clogged, take 'em off and replace 'em. But you want those to be in good working order.
