Mental Health Coping Strategy #5
Number five, focus on nutrition and sleep. So the staying physically active I think would help you improve your sleep, but now it's actually saying focus on your sleep. Uh, nutrition is, is huge. Again, as an, as an endurance athlete. Learning how to eat, when to eat, what to eat, the number of things you have to eat, it's very important and I, I don't know that a lot of us really get.
The nutrition that we should in a day because, but I think that's property management in general. I mean, I couldn't tell you the number of times the office staff I worked with, it's two or three o'clock I'm getting back from lunch and they still hadn't gone to lunch because people just keep coming in the doors.
Just, just like we have our jobs to do. They have jet their jobs to do and I, I think focusing on nutrition is, is hard in multifamily in general. That's also where I think that you have to be good and diligent about taking your break. You have to go to lunch. You have to get that recharged time. Go sit down in a, in a room for 15, 20 minutes with the lights off and music on, or take a quick nap in your car.
There's nothing wrong with that, but have food, have nutrition, have something rich. And protein and good fats to help give you the energy to get through your day. Don't just live off of energy drinks and carbs that may get you through for a little while, but then you'll, you'll crash, you'll crash really hard.
Uh, we need carbs. I am a huge fan of carbs. I'm a huge fan of all things sugar, but there's a time and place. And to do that all day, every day during work. It's not a, it's not a good thing. It's not helping you at all. So focus on your nutrition and your sleep. Eat balanced meals, stay hydrated during shifts to maintain your energy level.
And then you want to aim for consistent sleep patterns. Even if you work irregular hours get used to going bad at the same time, your body will start becoming accustomed to it and it'll start being easier and easier to fall asleep sleep. Sleep is so great. Uh, medicine or music is a medicine. Sleep is also a medicine.
There's amazing things that your body does while it's asleep to repair itself. So giving your body the attention that it needs will help prepare you for the next day. And that starts with nutrition. It starts with getting everything out of your brain. Starts with being active so that your body can, can.
Start to shut down, to let you go to sleep, and it will calm your mind.
