Let's talk about your day, but actually I don't really want to talk about today. Let's talk about tomorrow. What does tomorrow look like for you? Studies show that if you don't make a plan, that's exactly what you'll have. You see? Even if you don't decide to do something tomorrow, you've already decided what you're gonna do tomorrow.

Having a plan is critical for what occurs tomorrow. Quite frequently, maintenance technicians think that so much of their job is dependent upon reacting, that we stop making organized progress on anything. Now I admit being an apartment maintenance technician, supervisor, or a part of an an apartment maintenance team often do, does require us to be able to react quickly.

But that doesn't mean that we can't have a plan. Do yourself a favor for tomorrow. Come up with a plan. Now, don't plan everything. You can't plan every minute out, but I bet you can plan at least the first two or three hours by that. Whatever time you start in the morning. Have a plan for the first segment of time.

Work on curb appeal for the next segment of time. Work on the swimming pool, the fitness center, or whatever amenities you happen to have at your community. Eventually you'll get to a segment of time that you can no longer have plans, but for the rest of the day have a main goal to work on because we can turn it around the opposite direction, meaning.

We can either plan the day by saying, I don't wanna set any goals, just to be sure that my resident, when they call, I'm available to respond. And that means we sit around and we don't really have a goal or a plan, or we can flip that around and say, what if my resident doesn't call? What am I working on to completion?

I. By thinking about things that second way, at the end of a week, you'll be able to look back and say, look what I did, and I still had time to respond to my residents needs.
