One of the most essential tasks that you and I as a maintenance technician can do is to document this, translates into, write things down, make notes, enter into reports. Keep track of all of these are synonyms for what? Document means if we only go and do things and we never, ever document them, how many times is somebody else going to do the same thing?

Not only that, how can we prove what we did? A good way of looking at this is the common business phrase that as a matter of fact, I'm gonna begin it and you finish it. The phrase is this, if it's not written down, that's right, you finished it. If it's not written down, it never happened. And here's the thing, you're in the job of providing service.

That means we do a lot of stuff in order to ensure that we perform that stuff in the most efficient method possible. Write it down, document it. Now. Your app has a lot of tools in order to help that. It comes in the form of a digital make ready board notation, places on in service requests or on inspection forms.

All of these are vital, critical, and extremely important components to running our communities. In a great manner. It does boil down though, to taking the time after performing something to capture what was actually done. So the eternal question comes, which is more important, doing or documenting my answer.

Doing is more important. But if it wasn't documented, was the doing actually done?
