Customer Service: During the Visit #4
The fourth thing we're gonna do during the visit is we're gonna be courteous and professional. Okay? We've had a bad day. We're overworked, we're understaffed. No Ms. Jones. Mr. Jones. I do not want to be in your home repairing this, whatever it is, okay? But while I'm here, I'm gonna be courteous and I'm gonna be professional.
I'm gonna maintain a friendly and respectful attitude. Yes sir. No sir. Yes ma'am. No ma'am. I'm gonna explain everything that I've already mentioned. I'm gonna communicate. I'm gonna keep the tools out of reach. I'm going to be a professional while I'm in someone's home, regardless of how tired I am, and I'm going to avoid discussing unrelated issues or making unnecessary noise.
Again, residents can work from home Nowadays, you don't wanna be in there causing all kind of ruckus. That's unnecessary. If you have to use a drill, if you have to. Bang on a disposal to break it loose. Bang on the disposal to break it loose, but unnecessary noise. So don't take phone calls while you're in someone's home.
That is a no-no. When you are in someone's home and your phone rings silent, mute it. Push it to voicemail. Return the phone call when you leave. Okay? Do not take personal phone calls because you could be talking to a friend and a conversation could come up and you could reply to that friend in a manner, and the resident thinks you're talking to them, right?
That's gonna be hard to explain, so just better not to take personal phone calls. I'm not personally not a fan of having earbuds on at all inside someone's home. I know a lot of people do it. A lot of people like to listen to music while they're out on the grounds doing work. Yes, do that all day long, but when you enter someone's home, take the earbuds out, be a professional.
