Customer Service: During the Visit #3

Work neat and safe. Keep tools organized and out of residents’ reach—especially around kids. Avoid damaging personal property, and move items carefully if needed. Always follow company policy on touching resident belongings. If something must be moved for access (like during a leak or HVAC repair), handle it with care and respect. Safety and professionalism come first.

The third thing we're gonna do during our visit is we're gonna work neat and safe. We're gonna keep our tools organized and out of residence reach. You're gonna avoid damaging personal property if you have to move their personal items. You're gonna do it carefully. You're gonna call for help if it's something heavy.

Unless your policies and procedures on your property do not allow you to touch the resident's personal. Stuff. However, if I've got an AC repair and they've got something big and heavy blocking the return or blocking the door that I need to open, a lot of times it's gonna be up to you to move that. So if you have to move somebody's personal property, you need to do it.

Carefully. Okay. And then also again, like I just said, re refer to your company policy on moving personal belongings. Some companies, some properties, some owners may not want you touching resident's personal belongings. If that's the case, fully respect it. But just know if you've got an emergency, you've got a water leak and the shutoff is behind some cabinet where they've got a door blocked, you gotta move that.

In the event that you need to move it, you just need to do it very carefully because of course, whatever it is you move, whatever it is you touch was given then to them in the 17th century from a great aunt, okay? You know how the story's gonna go. Be respectful, but keep your tools organized, keep it out of the residence reach.

Don't just leave. Box cutters and screwdrivers laying on the ground. If you know there are kids at home, they're curious. They love to know when people are in their house working on stuff. We've all had it. I've been under a dishwasher before and a little kid is on the ground like looking at what I'm looking at.

So you just want to keep your stuff safe, keep it out of reach from residence, especially children.
