Customer Service: During the Visit #1
Now on to what to do during the visit. We're gonna use protective gear. We're gonna use PPE. Companies should be investing good money in PPE, your personal protective equipment. Wear it, use it. Protect yourself. Two of the most important tools that a maintenance person has at their disposal are their eyes and their hands.
If you are not protecting your eyes with safety glasses or not protecting your hands with gloves, that's on you. But your companies should be providing you this equipment if they are not handle that. They need to be wear shoe covers or lay down protective material to avoid tracking dirt inside the apartment home.
Be respectful. Okay. Wear booties if you have to. I will never. This is just me. I've knocked on the doors before and people have told me to take off my shoes. I will never take off my shoes entering someone's home. I will offer them for me to put on booties. If they still will not allow it, then I will pass it on to somebody else.
But I do not take my shoes off when entering someone's home. I'm sorry, that's just me. But I always would carry booties with me, and nine times out of 10, that would work. But protect your feet guys and ladies, protect your feet. All right. You never know what's inside someone's home. If they, if, depending on the cleanliness of their apartment, you don't wanna be walking around on some of that stuff in your bare feet.
Protect yourselves the best. You can always follow your company's policies and procedures. I just told you that I never take my shoes off. That is a Mark Sharp policy and procedure. I have shoes on in my own home. That's just me. But you, do you. But consult your policies and procedure manual before just doing that.
You may have a policy that states something completely different than what I said. I'm sorry if that's the case. And then you're gonna follow safety protocols, okay? If gloves are necessary, you're gonna wear them. If you need to use lockout tagout. Do that, that will protect you. Wear masks if needed, like a face shield.
I, I bought a pack of those disposable masks. Some back in covid. We were all wearing masks. When we would enter an apartment, someone would say, Hey, could you put, please put a mask on? Be respectful, right? As long as it doesn't prohibit you or prevent you from doing your work. Respect the resident. So you're gonna use your protective gear.
Wear shoe covers. Lay down protective material to avoid tracking dirt inside the apartment home, or follow and follow safety protocols like gloves, lockout tagout, masks if necessary.
