Curb Appeal
You've heard the topic called curb appeal. What exactly is it? No curb appeal doesn't mean how well the, uh, divider looks in between the roadway and the landscaping, although that is the curb. But in this case, we're talking about something that is bigger. Curb appeal is actually the appearance of everything that anybody can see without special admission.
Meaning typically when we're talking about curb appeal, we're discussing the outdoor attractions from the front entrance into all the way the back of the property. There may be areas or places that require access to get meaning. Uh. Often directly into your swimming pool area. If your swimming pool area requires a key to get into it, or a fob to unlock or a code to get in.
Generally speaking, that's not considered a part of curb appeal. Uh, except. If somebody can see your swimming pool area while driving by, then it would be considered curb appeal. So what's so important about curb appeal? First impressions. Studies show that over 50% of what somebody thinks about something occurs in less than five seconds.
Five seconds. That's a teeny tiny fraction of a day. If you go walking through your property and look at something within five seconds, you've already made a value judgment about the whatever it is that you're looking at. That first impression is critical. Now, think about somebody who's looking for a home.
If they come through your property at your front entrance, what will they see within that first five seconds? Your answer is curb appeal, and that's why it needs to be in tip top shape.
