Basics of a Water Heater
I don't know about you, but I think it's so cool that we live in a society in the world that whenever we're in need of hot water, we can get it in a matter of seconds, if not minutes. It's so convenient to be able to just turn the knobs and to have hot water. Kind of truly makes you think, how the heck did the guys do it before us, honey?
I need more hot water. I'm trying. Now, in many circumstances, the type of water heater that's installed into your home depends on the scenario. We have electric and we have gas In the industry, you usually see two types of water heaters. You see the tank style that you see here, or you see tankless, but the majority of homes here in the United States are tanked.
Now, whether they're gas or electric depends on the scenario of the living conditions. Mostly up north, you see a lot of gas going towards more of the south. You see a lot of electric right here is an example of a water heater that was installed in 2006. That is an electric water heater that is controlled by a thermostat and two elements.
Now, in order for a water heater to work correctly, it has to use a part called a dip tube. This dip tube allows water to come in from the bottom and circulate all the way to the top.
Now, if this part was ever damaged or broken. That means the water would not circulate properly inside of the tank. Now, even though the outside of the water heater is made of metal, there's a special insulation on the inside
to also help the water heater from any corrosion or buildup of minerals or magnesium ion. There's a special part called an ano rod. This is the sacrificial rod designed to attract any of those type of minerals. Now. If we decided to cut open this water heater and see what's on the inside, you'd be very surprised of what you would find.
Now, if this water heater was flushed correctly, we probably could have got 30 years out of it, but 20 years typically the standard of what you see for a water heater. This has been your fix it facts with me, Josh. Have a wonderful day.
Who took all the hot water?
